With over 25 years behind camera, Richard Caesar directed everything from feature film and TV drama to commercials and theatre. A graduate of Munich’s renowned film school HFF, he also penned several screenplays, run his own VFX company, and recently turned his curiosity towards the creative frontier of AI.

DIRECTOR – Richard’s debut film “The Calling“ was produced by Germany’s leading producer Bernd Eichinger (“The Downfall”, “The Name of the Rose”), shot with an international cast in the UK and successfully released across the globe.

Richard also wrote and directed the highly awarded 40min. science-fiction “Fantasy for a New Age”, shot in Prague, on Iceland and in New York. This gave him the opportunity of working with (and learning from) legendary cameraman and Academy Award winner Vilmos Zsigmond (“The Deer Hunter”, “Heaven’s Gate”).

Richard directed several episodes of the successful TV series “Against the Wind”, shot on Maui, Hawaii, as well as numerous commercials for major international brands (L’Oréal, Nivea, P&G, etc.), shot all over the world (UK, India, Argentina, New Zealand, South Africa, etc.).

Last but not least, his graduation film “Concierto Evolución” was seen by over 500.000 spectators on the world fair in Seville, Spain, earned multiple international awards and was screened in more than 400 US cinemas.

WRITER – Richard is writing screenplays in German and English. Recent work includes several scripts for German and Austrian prime-time TV (“Blind Ermittelt”, “Sisters of Murder”), as well as the pilot for the mini-series “Anna’s Demons” (all together with co-writer Sabine Radebold).

PHOTOGRAPHY – Richard started as a photographer and never stopped taking stills, considering photography an integral part of his directing work. It all  starts with a picture.

POSTPRODUCTION  & AI – For more than 5 years, Richard headed the Munich postproduction studio “Lizard Lounge” together with the now New-York based Michael Huber (“Severance”,  “Past Lives”).

With Richard’s broad experience across every field of filmmaking, diving into AI felt only natural for him. For Richard, the new medium isn’t just a tool — it’s a brand new canvas for storytelling.
